The Bartlesville Monthly Magazine
In each of our cottages you’ll find that we keep a current Bartlesville Monthly Magazine for your enjoyment! Keith and Christy McPhail do a great job including Osage County and Pawhuska in their content!
In the video above, they filmed a segment of their monthly online show in the Ben Johnson Cowboy Museum located on 6th Street, just around the corner from The Pioneer Woman Mercantile!
Be sure to plan a visit to the Ben Johnson Cowboy Museum when you come for a visit and explore cowboy lore from the legends - including actor and John Wayne’s friend - Mr. Ben Johnson, known around here as “Son,” as he grew up on a ranch just north of town!
Ora Brown is one of Pawhuska’s own, but you might recognize him from the movie scene!
Up in Shidler, right here in Osage County - you just might run into the One-Armed Bandit, aka John Payne! The Cottages on the Prairie owners, Cecil and Cathy McGarrah, love treating themselves to a steak at Mandy’s Cafe up in Shidler on a Saturday night.
And even ol’ Red Steagall has found his way up to the Osage and spent a little time out on the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, where cowboy actor Ben Johnson was raised!
You’ve Just Gotta Swing by Osage Outfitters in Pawhuska!

This Is How We Play In The Snow!
This is how we “play” in the snow! :)
No, this isn’t the norm in Pawhuska! But when it snows, owner Cecil McGarrah gets to break out his new “toys” to make sure the sidewalks and driveways at the Cottages on the Prairie are snow-free!
We had a heavy snow one week in February, but March has arrived and the grass is greening up, the temps are rising, and it won’t be long until the flowers will be blooming at The Cottages on the Prairie. Consider yourself invited to take some time to come and enjoy Spring in Pawhuska - and when you do - we have four beautiful and comfortable two-bedroom cottages in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown and The Pioneer Woman Mercantile for you to enjoy!
What Is Cecil Up To Now? :)
Cecil McGarrah - Ever Wondered?
When Cecil gets an idea, it’s usually a good one!
He’s been watching RFDtv for years and was inspired by a show on that network - so he took it to another level and created his own “Have You Ever Wondered” episode on lodging in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Enjoy!

Have You Met Cecil & Cathy?
Cathy & Cecil McGarrah at The Pioneer Woman Lodge west of Pawhuska, Oklahoma on the Drummond Ranch.
When you come for a visit you just might get to meet the McGarrah’s, owners of The Cottages on the Prairie! Cecil & Cathy frequent The Pioneer Woman Mercantile for some of Ree Drummond’s best entrees!
Or, you may spot them at Osage Outfitters on Kihekah Ave. downtown. They love watching owner, Joey Lee steam shape a cowboy hat or two!
You may even see them in the distance out on the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve just north of Pawhuska right before sunset. Cecil and Cathy love taking pictures of the bison on the open range and just enjoying a drive out through the prairie.
But then again, every once in a while you’ll find them at the upstairs bakery at The Pioneer Woman Mercantile mid-afternoon, just taking a moment to unwind, socialize, and enjoy a sweet treat.
If you do happen to spot them, be sure to go up and say “Hello.” They’ll be glad to meet you and most likely will send you home with a smile!
